painted rick-rack

painted rick-rack

$33.00

These butterfly wing earrings are extremely light weight and feature the top side of the species’ forewing. The pattern and colors are strikingly beautiful and have a “painted brush stroke” quality. The many colors include salmon pink, bronze, robin’s egg blue, white, cream, sepia, and black, with a rick-rack ruffley edge of brown. The undersides can be seen on the back of these in image 6.

The wings are secured between clear single-use plastic, cut from single-use food containers, of purchased food products, which have been washed and sterilized (see image 10). Re-Use & reduce my friends. Buy thisit.me wearable nature art!

Hanging from the bottom of each wing is a dangle composed of a painted turquoise/teal craft bead and a luminous freshwater pearl. These earrings measure approx. 1”W and 2-3/8”T from top of hook to bottom dangle. The hook is shaped and cut from a black colored craft wire and measures approx. 3/4” long in a crescent shape to hug the earlobe (and to evoke butterfly legs/antennae).

NOTE: All butterflies were gathered for me by my friendly neighborhood insectarium, after each insect’s natural life span. CARDBOARD MODELS ARE LIFE SIZED.
