From my love of ancient civilizations and fringe, comes this creation, incorporating real dragonfly and cicada wings, honey locust tree thorns (gathered by me along the Mississippi River—image 12), a variety of fresh water pearls, waxed cotton cord and various colored craftwire.
The collar base is 16 gauge wire that is hammered, distressed, stamped and shaped for the dangle findings (of 20-21 guage wires) which are then wrapped and hammered into position. Large center, pearshaped, golden fresh water pearls are approx. 1/2”L. Thorns are approx. 1+5/8” — 2+3/8” L. Center thorn being the longest. Large dragonfly wing measures approx. 1+3/4” L. Other wing dangle is composed of smaller dragonfly wing and the hind wing from a cicada.
Necklace attaches via hook on your right side. Waxed brown cotton cord is macrame´d to base hammered collar. Knotted ends are secured with wire (images 10-11).
